Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a sticky situation, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, gum eventually turns into a dark smudge on your concrete. But usually before that happens, pedestrians and clients coming into a business will step on the chewing gum and get it in all over the carpets and entryway mats. Then it’s forced deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Grapevine TX. Find more information about our service below:
The best methods for removing gum from concrete depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface yet, we might be able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping the gum off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving substance compared to a gooey and sticky mess. Once that happens, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper right under the gum. Then we move the scraper very slowly beneath the gum and the whole piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that has turned black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we don’t use very high pressure because that might harm the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses more pressure than needed to clean commercial concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be destroyed much easier than people think, especially if they’re only a few years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our gum removal service.
To remove gum from parking lots and other surfaces we use specially designed hot water power washing equipment and powerful soaps that enable us to clean the concrete without causing any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure, we can safely remove gum and dirt all while protecting the surface. Our method will also destroy bacteria and viruses that are found in gum.
By hiring Grapevine Pressure Washing for regular maintenance commercial cleaning at your property, your property will have better curb appeal and your gum removal issues will be dealt with!
